Leadership Team Monthly Meeting

The Leadership Team (LT) is a diverse, community-based group of citizens that was established in 2011 as part of Phase I of Designing and Achieving Our Potential, a project plan of action that supported the quality of life and economic well-being of the community. The primary role of the LT was and is today, to guide the scope of work outlined in the project and subsequent projects including the Community Conversation: The Importance of Events; to recruit participation, and to be a conduit for implementation, but not decision makers. The LT meets the first Wednesday of each month. The meetings are open to all community members with an interest in these projects.

Northport Lions Club - White Cane Funds for Leader Dogs

Northport Lions Club empowers volunteers to serve the community, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through fellowship and good works.

Two days each year Lions Club members volunteer to make it easy for individuals to slip their dollars and coin donations into the convenient slots cut into White Canes. Funds raised on White Cane Days are directed to helping with Leader Dog training and placements to help visually impaired individuals needing assistance from Leader Dogs.

Lions Clubs have been raising funds to help individuals with visual difficulties since being challenged by Helen Keller to take up the cause of helping the blind with their needs. Today Lions International also provide glasses and eye exams in locations around the world.

The Northport Community Band will play. The Fly-In was introduced by the Northport Pilots Association in 1988 and has been sustained by the Lions' Club since 2008.
